The Pirnove Municipality is drawing up its own development strategy to turn into the Kyiv Oblast ecological centre. These plans call for developing green tourism, craft business ideas, and the social component. The project will be implemented as part of the U-LEAD with Europe, said Liubov Lysenko, coordinator of the working party.

So far, the municipality has identified its strengths and weaknesses, performed a SWOT analysis, and articulated a strategic vision for future development. Besides, a goal matrix has been built and local residents’ projects have been collected in the Pirnove Municipality.

Working Group Coordinator Liubov Lysenko says that the development vector of the municipality was determined through the polling and voting of the population, local businesspeople, and local government officials.

«I cannot say that we immediately realized what the municipality strengths were. There were several of them, and the most difficult task was to make the right choice. On the one hand, the municipality is located near Kyiv and has a powerful recreational potential. Therefore, we could not disregard the tourist component. We also decided to work on the environmental vector to be combined with promoting craft business ideas. The municipality decided to pay special attention to the development of social services, » 

said Lysenko.

72.3% of the polled local residents voted for going towards the goal of turning the municipality into the ecological capital of the Kyiv region. This approach involves combining sustainable development models with those that provide for building an ecological community. The municipality is finalizing projects to proceed to implementing them once the strategy is eventually adopted. The local population is to determine a precise list of those, after which local authorities are to endorse the entire framework.

«We will put forward the ideas that proved to be the most comprehensive and comprehensible. And, as a rule, these are about the whole municipality, not about a separate village. Besides, we need to understand how all this will be brought into reality, because inventing and translating into life are two different things. We appeared to be very lucky in one of the settlements: there is a non-governmental organization in it which is made up of IT specialists, lawyers, and economists. These are powerful young people who are ready to assume social responsibility and do something,»
