The New European Bauhaus Prizes is an annual competition that recognises and spotlights existing projects and ideas developed by young and promising talents that integrate the three core values and principles of the NEB (participatory process, multi-level engagement and a transdisciplinary approach). The deadline for 2025 applications is 14 February.
What is the New European Bauhaus (NEB)?
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an EU initiative within the European Green Deal that promotes sustainable solutions for the transformation of the architectural landscape. The NEB brings together architecture, art, design, environmental dimension and technology to create a future that is sustainable, inclusive and aesthetic. The NEB seeks solutions that are not only sustainable, but also inclusive and aesthetic, while celebrating the diversity of places, traditions and cultures across Europe and beyond.
As part of sustainable development, the NEB addresses environmental challenges through comprehensive solutions that encompass the circular economy, the restoration of natural ecosystems and the mitigation of anthropogenic impact. The initiative aims to reduce the negative impacts of human activities on the environment by implementing nature-based solutions and shaping life-thinking that factors in the full life cycle of products and processes.
The NEB considers inclusivity as a key principle for creating a living spaces that overcome barriers between different population groups. The initiative focuses on transforming the environment, promoting interaction and supporting diversity through architectural, design and social solutions that ensure real accessibility for all.
Aesthetics in NEB goes far beyond the traditional understanding of beauty, becoming a powerful tool for social transformation. The initiative approaches the aesthetic dimension as a space where emotional and sensory perception is directly intertwined with deep social meanings. Through its projects, the NEB seeks to build environments that both evoke aesthetic pleasure and strengthen a sense of belonging, integrating cultural and social values.
Why apply for the 2025 Prizes?
Participation in the NEB Prizes is not just a chance to receive financial support or an award, but an opportunity to join a large-scale process that transforms society, restores connections and shapes sustainable European prospects for Ukraine.
Participation in the NEB Prizes will allow Ukrainian projects to become part of a European innovation network that helps redesign not only the local communities, but also approaches to governance, interaction and creativity. This is a chance to show the world how, despite all the challenges of the ongoing full-scale war, Ukraine is recovering and modernising, guided by the principles of resilience, cooperation and beauty.
Applications can be submitted by both individuals and legal entities that are authorised to present a project or are the authors of the concept.
