What is the role and place of local governments in the system of support for war veterans and their families? What support models for war veterans and their families are currently in place in municipalities? What are the criteria for a municipality to choose the optimal support model? What should be the local legal and regulatory framework for the support model?

What is it?
The possibility for local governments to select the optimal model of support for war veterans and their families in the municipality and to prepare local legal documents for its implementation
Why this programme?
Participants of the support programme will::
- learn about the basic principles of organising and ensuring of support for war veterans and their families in municipalities;
- formulate priority areas and identify key resources to support war veterans and their families in the municipality;
- select the optimal model of support for war veterans and their families specifically for their municipality and prepare a package of local regulations for its implementation;
- identify tools for working and develop an action plan to support war veterans and their families in the municipality;
- establish contacts and establish cooperation with colleagues from other regions of Ukraine
When?
From 12 November 2024. The course will last for 12 weeks. All events will be held online and are free for participants
Who can participate in the programme?
10 teams will be selected from municipalities (3 representatives from each municipality) with populations of up to 50,000 people. Each municipality's team should include a specialised deputy head of the council, a head or specialist of the structural unit for social protection, and the director or deputy director of the Centre for Social Services / Territorial Centre for Social Services

To participate in the selection, please fill out the Application form attached and send it to the email address: regops.u-lead@giz.de by 18:00 on 18 October 2024, indicating «Model of support for veterans_Name of municipality_Oblast» in the subject line of the message in MS Excel format.
