The deepening of European integration calls for expanding the application of European approaches and methods in the field of rural development. The key role in the development of rural areas is played by municipalities.
How can the position of a Rural Development Officer become a catalyst for the sustainable development of rural areas in your municipality, attracting investments and improving the quality of life?
Join the Training Programme "Steps for Specialists. Introduction of the position of the Rural Development Officer and organization of his/her work" (the Training Programme).
What is it?
This is an opportunity to get acquainted with the formats and models for supporting rural development in a municipality according to the EU standards and learn about the model of the Rural Development Officer (RD Officer), which is being adapted to the national legislation.
Benefits for the participants:
As part of the Training Programme the Participants will
- learn how to organize work on rural development in a municipality based on the model of the RD Officer;
- understand what the priority actions and basic tools for the work of the RD Officer are;
- learn about communication tools for working in the field of rural development in a municipality;
- form a comprehensive vision of local climate change adaptation measures in the strategic planning of rural development of a municipality;
- receive step-by-step recommendations for the creation of a Roadmap for sustainable rural development, which will become the basis for the systematic work of the RD Officer;
- generate a basic vision of a municipality's rural development priorities;
- establish contacts and collaborate with colleagues from various regions of Ukraine.
When?
Four weeks, starting on 19 June 2025. All events will be held online and are free for participants.
Who can participate?
A total of 75 participants will be selected for the Training Programme "Steps for Specialists. Introduction of the position of the Rural Development Officer and organization of his/her work" with one representative per municipality with a population of up to 50,000 people. Municipalities located in the temporarily occupied territories or in the areas of active hostilities, where the powers of local self-government bodies are exercised by military-civilian administrations, relocated municipalities cannot participate in the competition
Local self-government officials are invited to participate: deputy heads, heads and specialists of executive bodies whose functional powers are related to economic and rural development, starostas.
Based on the results of successful training, participants will receive certificates.

To participate in the selection process, you need to fill out the attached application form and send it to the email address: regops.u-lead@giz.de by 18:00 on May 27, 2025. The email subject should be formatted as "Budget Forecast_Municipality Name_Region" in MS Excel format.
