Do you strive to improve participation of municipality residents in addressing local issues? Would you like to learn how to apply the new legislative norms on democracy at the local government level? Do you feel that your community needs to establish a systematic interaction among the local council and residents?
These and many more questions will be addressed during the training initiative by U-LEAD with Europe "Steps for Specialists. Participation of municipality residents in solving local issues" (the Training Programme)!
What is it?
This is an opportunity for local government officials to expand their knowledge and develop skills in engaging municipality residents to addressing local issues.
Benefits for the participants:
As part of the training program, participants will
- understand how the level of public participation affects the activities of local governments;
- find out which local acts regulating the forms of public participation should be adopted or updated;
- master the ability to apply various forms of participation of municipality residents in addressing local issues;
- understand how to develop effective models of interaction between the government and the municipality based on democratic governance, transparency and inclusiveness;
- establish contacts and establish cooperation with colleagues from different oblast of Ukraine.
When?
Five weeks, starting from 19 August to 16 September, 2025. All events will be held online and are free for participants.
Who can participate?
100 participants will be selected, one representative from each of the municipality with a population of up to 50 thousand people, which are not located on the temporarily occupied territory and where the powers of local governments have not been transferred to the military administrations of the settlements.
Participants must guarantee adequate technical support to connect to online events.
Participants should, by virtue of their official duties, interact with the public or coordinate the activities of other officials who are responsible for this and can be represented at the level of:
- Deputy mayor of a village, settlement or town council;
- Secretary of the a village, settlement or town council;
- Manager of affairs (secretary) of the executive committee;
- Head or specialist of an executive body whose responsibilities include public relations.
Preference will be given to participants with less experience in the relevant field.
Upon successful completion of the training, participants will receive certificates.
